The Oppo A58 middle-tier phone is coming out at a time when the more budget-oriented section of the market seems to be dominated by Chinese giants. The Oppo A58 comes with a 1,650mAh battery and in general, it aims for an above-average performance without cutting corners on quality.
This post will walk you through what you need to know before looking into buying this phone. We’ll look at its display, software, camera, battery life, and price and compare it to other phones available from the same price range so that you can make an informed decision when deciding if this is the phone for you.
Oppo A58 Display
Display: The 5-inch display on the Oppo A58 is a TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. It’s a good thing that the phone comes with a unique design, although we are still quite puzzled why they put a front-facing camera on the forehead (yes, you read that right). The Oppo A58 has above-average picture quality and appears to be a nice choice if you want to kill some time playing casual games or watching movies and videos. However, we do not recommend watching it outside in bright sunlight due to the low brightness of its display.
Oppo A58 Software
Software: This is where the Oppo A58 sets itself apart from other phones at its price point. The phone comes with Color OS 2.1 based on Android 4.4 KitKat and it is expected to get an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop in the near future. Color OS 2.1 is clean, easy, and intuitive although it does not have some of the features that you would expect from a smartphone in this price range, such as weather and stock widgets or added touches to the notification center. Another good thing about this software is that it’s quite stable, even though many people online are reporting that they are getting random reboots while using the phone. There is also an App Lock feature added to this software which allows you to lock individual apps so that no one can access them without your permission.
